Why it is important not to make spelling mistakes
Nowadays, it is essential to be good at spelling to be credible and thus give a good image of the company that you represent or manage.
This is valid for all professions (teaching professions, insurance professions, web professions, customer service, to name a few).
And this, whether in web format or in paper format. Here are some tips to help you.
Be good at spelling
Writing is an integral part of the world of work. It is so self-evident that to make a contract, to make a payment, to schedule a meeting, for after-sales service and everything related to the world of work, it is essential to do it in writing (by email, by post, etc.).
In addition, to write good essays, it is essential to be good at spelling and grammar at the same time, to make yourself understood and better convey the message you want to convey.
Tips against spelling mistakes
Since we are not immune to spelling mistakes, there are 6 effective tips to avoid making them, or to make them as few as possible:
1. The golden rule is to read a lot, preferably literary books, otherwise anything that falls into your hands (magazines, newspapers, news, articles on the internet, etc.)
2. Be wary of spell checkers that are misleading most of the time. Not only do they not have all the science, but they are also programmed by human beings and everyone knows that humans are not perfect, which means that they can sometimes make mistakes. Which ultimately makes automatic correctors unreliable.
3. Use mnemonics to avoid confusing the past participle. This is one of the most common mistakes in the French language. But the good news is that there is a trick to avoid confusing it. When two verbs follow one another, replace the second with a verb that ends in “re” such as “prendre” or “vente” for example, and if it works, you have to put it in the infinitive, otherwise, in the opposite case, agree on it if necessary.
4. Learn a certain number of words by heart for greater ease. Thus, with words that we master or know by heart, it is easier to avoid spelling mistakes. In other words, we gain a head start on these words each time we are called upon to write content.
5. Note down the mistakes you make often so that you don’t make them again. Writing them down and working on them allows and facilitates the memorization of these mistakes. In this way, you are sure not to make the same mistakes in the future.
6. Always reread at the end for optimal verification. Even if no one likes to reread in principle, at least the vast majority of people, it is nevertheless necessary to reread at least once at the end of each writing. The ideal is to let it rest a little and come back a few minutes later, or even a few days later (if possible) to have a different approach and a more objective view of the writing in question.
To bring more credibility to your company and to be credible yourself, it is strongly recommended to apply yourself in spelling, take courses, and read a lot if you have gaps because this is in some way the showcase of our work. It is always more pleasant to read a text without mistakes rather than a text riddled with mistakes!
