Tips and tricks for a well-maintained garden

We all dream of having a beautiful patch of greenery in front of the house when summer comes. We can indeed meet there with family or friends to enjoy a sunny day together, and have picnics, barbecues, etc. To do this, you have to think about maintaining your garden well to beautify it. Discover some practical tips to easily take care of your green space.

Watering the plants

Do you dream of a beautiful garden filled with magnificent plants with a sweet fragrance?   To do this, you must take the time to water them well, otherwise, they risk wilting and will not produce the desired effect. Flower beds, shrubs, lawns, vegetable gardens… nothing should be forgotten. However, to avoid finding yourself with an exorbitant water bill at the end of the month, you must be smart. To save money, why not simply collect rainwater in   PVC basins to water your plants?

Fertilizers

To have a sublime garden, you must use fertilizers. Preferably opt for organic fertilizers. Here too, you can make significant savings by making your fertilizer. You simply have to recycle organic waste from the house. Fruit peels, vegetable peels… everything can be used to prepare a quality natural compost to feed the plants in the garden. By opting for this solution, you are also making an ecological gesture for the planet.

Insecticides

While some insects are essential to the garden, others are simply pests. So don’t hesitate to buy a discounted insecticide to get rid of them. Some old wives’ tales can also work to keep unwanted pests away. For example, you can mix the lime zest with a quarter of a liter of boiling water. Once the mixture has cooled, pour it into a spray bottle and spray your plants with it. For optimal effectiveness, you may have to repeat the operation several times.

You can also sprinkle the roots of your plants with coffee grounds, sawdust or ash to keep slugs and snails away. Remember to repeat the operation after rainy days.

For shiny foliage

Watering does not always make the leaves shiny. It is therefore necessary to clean them. To do this, you can use a banana peel to gently rub them so as not to damage them. You can also lightly soak a sponge with cooking oil and use it to make the leaves shine. Don’t forget to water them finely afterward.

Gardening tools

Is gardening your hobby? Think about equipping yourself with the necessary tools to fully indulge in it. To be able to use them for as long as possible, you will also need to maintain them regularly, especially for metal tools that can rust, oxidize or become damaged over time.

To protect your tools from rust, always make sure to store them in a dry place after drying them well, instead of leaving them lying around in the garden after use.   But, even despite these precautions, your tools can be attacked by humidity. To do this, consider pouring grains of rice, which will absorb the humidity, into your toolbox.

Also, don’t hesitate to buy anti-rust products at a reduced price from DIY and gardening specialists to coat your metal tools and protect them from oxidation. You won’t have to travel all over town to find them, promotional offers are just a click away on catalogs such as the Centrakor catalog. You can also find anti-rust paints from these same brands, which are just as practical. Once applied, these products will act as a protective film on the tools.
