A scarf is very practical to fight against the cold when winters are harsh. It effectively protects the neck around which it wraps with delight. But we too often forget that it is also a fashion accessory, which elegantly crowns a worked clothing style, especially when it is born from noble textiles. So, to be the most distinguished in the middle of the great cold, opt for the cashmere scarf!
An essential accessory
As the motto of a trendy TV series announces: winter is coming. And it promises to be harsh. In these conditions, adopting a scarf is no longer an option, it is a necessity. At least, if you intend to protect your fragile neck from the cold, a privileged area for viruses and other bacteria looking for a way into your body.
If you want to be well protected against the icy wind, you might as well do it with maximum style. The scarf is, in fact, an essential accessory that sets the tone of the outfit. Since it is one of the first things you see, it deserves to be chosen for its aesthetics as well as its protective virtues.
Cashmere against nightmares
The composition of the scarf is essential: the choice of material is crucial and is placed at the crossroads of the needs called for by the accessory – comfort, quality, warmth, protection, and appearance. In this case, the best of the best remains the cashmere scarf, which combines all these advantages and which also has the merit of being particularly soft.
Cashmere originates from the region of the same name, a region of the Indian subcontinent, located between India and Pakistan. This is where goats are raised whose wool gives this natural fiber that is cashmere. This fabric is characterized by :
- Its flexibility
- Its sweetness
- Its lightness
- His resistance
These great qualities make it very valuable and in high demand. This is why it is often sold at a high price, which continues to increase – the “fault” of customers who increasingly prioritize the quality and durability of materials.
Tips for wearing your scarf correctly
To optimize the effectiveness of the cashmere scarf (as with any other scarf), it is essential to leave no space between the fabric and the skin: there is no question of freezing air infiltrating and settling. A solid knot prevents movement and protects the body.
The best thing is to place it under the coat, which ensures it stays in place. But, depending on the thickness and length of the fabric, it is also possible to bring it out to keep it even warmer.

Where to buy a cashmere scarf?
Cashmere scarves are available almost everywhere: you can find them at Hermès as well as… at Monoprix! The quality and lifespan of the accessory depend on the cost. Fortunately, there are intermediate brands that offer excellent quality for reasonable prices. However, expect to pay around a hundred euros. Here are our 3 favorite sellers:
- The Eric Bompard scarf is both chic and simple. The first accessory launched by the brand over 30 years ago, the cashmere scarf, which comes in around 40 colors, has since become the brand’s key piece for winter.
- The Heyraud house offers a pretty box containing a cashmere scarf and leather gloves lined in the same fabric. The ideal gift to face the winter serenely and with maximum elegance.
- The Princesse Moghole website displays an impressive gallery of cashmere scarves, for every possible and imaginable taste.
How to care for your cashmere scarf?
Just like its sisters made of evening and wool, the cashmere scarf does not get dirty and does not retain perspiration. However, it is still necessary to wash it from time to time, but not under any conditions: it is a question of following cleaning methods that do not risk damaging the fabric.
- Wash it with a product specially designed for wool or with a little of your diluted shampoo (or conditioner);
- Do not leave it to soak in soapy water for hours, a few minutes is enough;
- Like washing, rinsing should be quick, and done in cold water several times, delicately, until the water runs clear;
- Finally, gently pat dry without twisting the scarf, rolling it in a terry towel.
All you have to do now is dry your scarf. Be careful, never use a dryer or fabric softener! The delicate threads of the fabric could be damaged. Place it on a dry towel, away from any heat source; it should then return to its original shape on its own, without needing to be ironed. If not, iron inside out and gently.
