Ray-Ban for a modern and trendy style
Once out of fashion and an accessory for the geek, the young dynamic executive of the 1980s, or the secretary of the sixties, glasses are today an essential trendy accessory. More particularly, sunglasses are now democratized, so that they become the best companions for your holidays and sunny gardens and parks. Among all the sunglasses currently on the market, Ray-Bans remains at the top of sales in many Western countries. Zoom in on the success of Ray-Bans.
Ray-Ban, the glasses of success since the beginning
Ray-Bans designed for military use in the United States
In the 1930s, sketches of Ray-Bans – which had not yet been adorned with this design – appeared on the noses of a select few, namely US Army fighter pilots. The lens of these glasses, RB3 lenses, had the particularity of being green and filtering the sun’s ultraviolet and infrared rays. By 1937, RB3 glasses were no longer the preserve of US Army aviators, but of all Americans, since Ray-Bans – finally adorned with this design – were marketed. Their name is none other than a contraction of their primary function, that is to say, to “banish the sun’s rays”.
The democratization of Ray-Bans
In the 1960s, Ray-Bans experienced relatively slow development, as they faced competition from large black glasses, the famous fly glasses that covered a good part of the face. It was not until the 1980s that stars, including Hollywood stars, brought them back into fashion. Among these icons, we can count Audrey Hepburn, Michael Jackson, the Blue Brothers, and even Nicolas Sarkozy, former French President, who adopted them! Today, Ray-Bans are perceived as authentic glasses, and the brand benefits from a very positive image.
Ray-Ban for a trendy style
The highlights of the Ray-Ban style
- Sun protection: Ray-Ban lenses, like any pair of sunglasses, have the function of protecting against the sun’s rays. Ray-Ban was created to be even more efficient than classic sunglasses. The lenses filter the sun’s rays sufficiently and their size is large enough to protect the eyes.
- Intergenerational: These glasses are a classic, they never go out of style. Why? They are unisex, suitable for both young and old, and go with any outfit.
- Aesthetics: Ray-Bans dress your face and create a look that is both relaxed and “classy”. This accessory is authentic and recalls the uniforms of American GIs. GIs have a very positive image in Europe and are seen as heroes of the Second World War. This flagship accessory is also that of rockers or the king of pop Mickael Jackson.
- Variety: Ray-Bans are not limited to the aviator model, there are others, including models with black plastic frames called ” wayfarer ” so that even a child can wear Ray-Bans.
The disadvantages of adopting Ray-Bans
- while the most expensive reaches 3000 euros. This investment is therefore not negligible. The alternative is to opt for Ray-Ban style glasses which are not real Ray-Bans. They will be just as aesthetic as real Ray-Bans unless you want to be part of the Ray-Ban community.
- A controversial social image: Ray-Bans are a “classy” and “casual” accessory, but they can be the preserve of a wealthy social class who rush to put on their Ray-Bans as soon as the sun comes out. Ray-Bans can therefore convey the cliché of the “trendy” guy or girl.
